Spiritual Marriage

Taking a Step towards Spirituality for a Smoother Calmer Life

World Happiness Report, the annual publication of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, of 2019 ranked India at 140 out of the 156 countries surveyed. Not just this, another study reported in WHO conducted for the NCMH (National Care Of Medical Health), states that at least 6.5 per cent of the Indian population suffers from some form of the serious mental disorder. Sadly, we are emerging as one of the saddest countries across the globe with huge pressure on our mental health.

The Need of Spirituality in Life

The reasons for the failure of the citizens to keep up their emotional quotient are numerous. Most of us believe that shopping at luxury brands and posting dazzling pictures of a foreign trip would actually fetch us happiness and satisfaction. But this perception is severely flawed. Of course, there is nothing wrong in spending on things for pleasure, but it is noteworthy if that brings along satisfaction.

Most of us are consciously a part of the rat race and fail to fully rejuvenate ourselves. While nutrient-rich diet, sleep and exercise are important for the body, almost nothing is done for the mind. And this is where there is a need to retract to spirituality to re-energize the mind and the soul. Spirituality not only benefits to restore inner peace but also helps foster qualities that help you lead a healthier and fulfilling life. It also prepares you to take up responsibilities and paves the way to a happier married life.

The Spiritual Purpose of Marriage

Around 45.6% of the total population in India is married. A lack of mental stability and peace leads to an unhappy marriage and thus an unhappy life. Hence, this leads to an increasing number of cases of depression. Marriage is now mostly perceived as a means of finding a life-partner, who eventually transforms merely as your roommate.

But the actual purpose of is to expand the awareness from simply thinking about oneself to thinking about others. The deeper aspect of it applies to spiritual growth. It helps you balance your energies and gives you a sense of fulfilment and meaning. Moreover, as the marriage matures, the couple grows spiritually. Gradually, the relationship dominated by the physical pleasures metamorphoses into a divine friendship between the couple.

So, when looking for a partner to enter wedlock, it is important to ensure that both of you are spiritually compatible as well. With today’s fast-paced lives, this becomes an important aspect as the worldly features would fade out with time but only the deeper aspect of marriage would result in a life-long bond worth cherishing.
